Human Settlements’ Portfolio Committee visits housing registration drive in Mfuleni

The City of Cape Town’s Portfolio Committee
Chairperson for Human Settlements, Councillor Albert Anda
Ntsodo, and the Portfolio Committee members conducted
an oversight visit to a housing
registration drive in Mfuleni. The drive aims to educate
the community about the processes related to the Housing Needs Register and
housing opportunities.
The City's Human Settlements officials assisted residents with Housing Needs Register enquiries, new applications as well as updating their information.
'We are pleased with the work being done in our communities and we are glad to see the City's services being made even more accessible to residents in all communities in the metro. This service plays a vital role as it affords residents the opportunity to receive assistance and information to make informed decisions.
'The drive was well supported by the community and we are happy to see many residents being assisted' said Councillor Ntsodo.
Beneficiaries of City housing projects will be selected in accordance with the City's Housing Allocation Policy and Housing Needs Register to ensure housing opportunities are made available in a fair and transparent manner that prevents queue jumping and to those who qualify for housing as per South African legislation. The City's political office bearers do not have access to, or influence over the Register and its qualifying beneficiaries.
